You did a great job on describing the horse and SAR activities -
clear and accurate. You kept the mystery right up to the end...

From Review Sites:
Written with a clear first-person voice, Linda Mickey's GREASED
WHEELS ...spins into a fascinating story of
corporate greed in the midst of small-town mentality. Kyle Shannon makes
an effective, albeit reluctant sleuth, torn between her desire to
maintain distance (hence the temp work) and to help a loved local icon
keep his livelihood.

As a general rule, I do not read iUniverse publications, but I was
astonished with this wonderful novel. It is consistent, insightful, fun,
logical, and well-written. For anyone else who tends to have a prejudice
against the iUniverse publications, at least read DEFECTIVE GOODS. This
was a fun escape novel into someone else's life.

A Good Start
I really want to see more from this author. Stumbled across the book at
a library and read it in one setting. Kyle Shannon is a methodical
detective and it's fun to experience the crime(s)
from her perspective while she goes about the mundane task of
trying to find a new place to live.
Even for a first novel [GREASED WHEELS], I
thought this was a really good read. The storyline kept my interest,
and I found the characters well developed and likable...I
think this would make a great series, and I hope Mickey writes more
of Kyle's escapades.

Awesome first mystery novel [GREASED
WHEELS]. Funny,
thought-provoking, stylish, with a voice that's both refreshing and
candid. Lively enough to give you that, "I can't put it down,"
feeling. If you love mysteries, then give this one a try. It's just
plain fun.

From
Librarians:
"HORSE POWER, the third installment in Linda
Mickey’s Kyle Shannon mystery series, is a winner---and by much more
than a nose. Linda’s gift for writing dialogue creates the mood and
setting perfectly while giving dimension to her characters. Kyle
Shannon is an intelligent, hard working, low-maintenance woman who’s
extremely likeable. If you are a fan of traditional
mysteries…this is a series for you. Hey Linda, put down that cinnamon
roll from Penzler’s and write another one! Congratulations."
Nina Kenney, Adult Program Associate,
Lake Villa District Library
"I ...just finished GREASED
WHEELS. I loved it and think Kyle is a great protagonist...I admire efficient and proficient women and Kyle certainly has
those qualities along with a sense of humor. Just started DEFECTIVE
GOODS and will probably not get much else done until it's time to go to
work later this afternoon."
Doris Ann Norris, retired director Karbisch
Memorial Public Library, Fostoria OH and library liaison for Sisters in
Crime
"Kyle
Shannon is a real person. I can relate to her because she does things a
real person would do. And I like the fact that your books are
acceptable to our teen readers. They like her, she sets a good example
and I don't have to worry about the material."
Gulli, Readers' Services, Ela Area Public Library District
"I love your point of view - that
you take Kyle through a real day. No one else does that. She gets up,
she goes to work, she comes home at the end of the day. And along the
way, she tries to solve the murder. I thoroughly enjoy your books."
Sue, Youth Services, Oak Brook Public Library
From Fans:
I finished HORSE POWER. I had some time off from work and it was
a treat to curl up and read about Foggy (my favorite).
Lenore
I just read your new book HORSE POWER and found it a quite
entertaining summer diversion.

Just wanted to tell
you I enjoyed reading GREASED WHEELS!! A temp--what a great idea. Kyle
can find herself in all kinds of "situations" with future assignments.
You probably have more ideas than you can do
time at this point...Congratulations and
continued success.

This is Mickey's
second novel and she
knows her territory. Filled with authentic police procedure and
fascinating glimpses into corporate life where sexual intimidation,
internal politics and greed become a deadly mix.
DEFECTIVE GOODS is the ultimate "outsider-on-the-inside" novel.
Doug Cummings, author of best seller Deader by the Lake
Read book (GREASED
WHEELS). Had several suspects. Only one correct. I
honor you for making me guess.

Hey Linda:
Just a quick note to let you know that Kathy loves GREASED WHEELS. She
said to me that it is as good as any Sue Grafton she has read!
Bravo. You received high marks from a very tough critic.
Bob
Hey I read DEFECTIVE GOODS while at
my conference in Florida...could not put it
down...read it straight through...really good!!
I caught the...clue that was in the very
beginning and I could not stop reading
until the book caught up to that part...haha...of
course my sleuth abilities pretty much stopped
there...anyway I told lots of people at the conference about
it and told them to go to the library and
request it
Bryna
Well I am almost done with GREASED
WHEELS, hey I hang on every word and read when I get the chance. Has
been really pulling me along now so I hate to put it down.
Dean
Hi, Linda!
We met at Dark and Stormy, so
I hope you remember me - that conference seems so long ago!
Anyway, I just finished reading your book
(GREASED WHEELS) and I really liked it! It's
funny reading about your own neighborhood in a book. You made Penzler's
seem real, and if it is real, tell me where it is because I want to get
my hands on a dozen of Mary's cinnamon rolls!
Liama
I finished your book
(DEFECTIVE GOODS). I really liked it! The only problem is, now
I have to wait for the next one. I hope you keep Jake in the next story
line!
Jean
I can't put it down. I love the way you are able to
put visuals in the reader's mind. It is very cool.
Lori
Sorry I haven't been in touch for a while! I
wanted to read your book first and I finally got it yesterday and
finished it last night (in one sitting, by the way). I reviewed it for
Amazon, too and gave it four stars.
